Advancing the Provision of Comprehensive Sexuality Education in Schools

Activity: Participating in or organising an eventInvited talk

Description

Comprehensive sexuality education refers to the curriculum-based process of teaching and learning about the cognitive, emotional, physical, and social aspects of sexuality. It aims to equip children and young people with knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values that will empower them to: realize their health, well-being, and dignity; develop respectful social and sexual relationships; consider how their choices affect their well-being and that of others; and, understand and ensure the protection of their rights throughout their lives. The Global Campaign for Education (GCE) promotes multi-sectoral approaches that connect education at all levels with protection, social protection, SRHR/health, and the world of work to support particularly vulnerable children, adolescents, and youth. However, many young people face challenges based on lack of comprehensive sexuality education information and services.

The webinar provided a space for the GCE movement to engage in dialogue, and share lessons, gaps, and recommendations towards innovative, age-appropriate, and inclusive approaches for the provision of CSE for learners of all genders.
