'Finding what they need, when they need it! A one-page toolkit for PGRs'.The Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) has informed improvements in postgraduate researcher (PGR) support, access to resources and research culture. This is important because information overwhelm is real and PGRs may feel that university and student services are more directed towards undergraduates than them. When they do engage with resources and events; they often find them beneficial. For instance, feedback from participants of the Personal and Professional Development Programme (PPD) workshops run by the Learning Enhancement Team (LET) in 2025/26 shows that PGR’s find sessions helpful, reassuring and a useful way to learn from other PGRs.
To ease the information overload and improve accessibility, members of LET and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Science PGR training coordinators have created a one-page toolkit. The resources have been consolidated and renewed with the aim of encouraging PGRs to make use of the writers’ retreats, writing groups, tutorials, seminars and workshops, mentoring, and more. This session will present the current offer, including a new reading list and a document to support PGR-led writing groups, as well as look to the future development of more asynchronous materials. It will also evidence student experiences and engagement and invite colleagues to contribute to the project.
