BCLT Translator in Residence Paul Russell Garrett led this exploratory workshop on translating dialogue in theatre and fiction. Paul has translated scores of plays and books, many of which have been both staged and/or published. How can the collaborative approach common in the theatre world carry across to the realm of fiction, where translators work largely alone? Paul looked at how some basic theatre techniques can be applied to the translation of fiction.
