Description

Exploring themes of courtly gift-giving and cultural diplomacy, this two-day international conference examines exchanges between the British and Japanese royal and imperial families from 1600 to the present. Experts from Japan and Europe will present papers on 400 years of diplomatic, artistic and cultural interaction, in conjunction with the exhibition Japan: Courts & Culture at The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace. Organised by Royal Collection trust in collaboration with The Sainsbury Institute for the Study of Japanese Arts and Cultures.
