Description

I joined the staff of the AFRC and MRC Neuropathogenesis Unit in Edinburgh in September 1984 and spent the next 16 years within the BBSRC research system, in Edinburgh until 1996 and then at the main BBSRC Institute for Animal Health, at Compton in Berkshire. During this time, I went through several cycles of MRC, BBSRC and Defra/MAFF grant applications and funding for programme grants or other more targeted initiatives (eg., transgenic technologies) I had several PhD students who were registered at local universities, for example, Tim Perring (Edinburgh), Alex Rhie (Oxford) and Louise Kirby (Reading), and I also mentored and sponsored many of the students of my post-docs
