UEA delegation visits Vietnam to nurture partnerships

UEA academics have visited Vietnam to reunite with alumni and nurture new partnerships.

The delegation – involving Prof Emiliya Lazarova (Head of School of Economics), Prof Andreas Stephan (Head of School of Law), Dr Ra Mason (Associate Professor of International Relations and Japanese Foreign Policy), and Dr Lucill Curtis (SSF Associate Dean for Internationalisation and Associate Professor of Marketing) – visited Hanoi, Vietnam,to focus on strengthening existing partnerships and collaborating on new academic initiatives to support the delivery of the University’s 2030 strategy. 

Prof Lazarova said: “Prof Stephan and I have been developing and nurturing relationships in Vietnam for several years.  

“During this visit, we had the chance to broaden our reach with the addition of Dr Mason and Dr Curtis, which enriched our overall academic expertise. This enabled us to engage with more students from different disciplines, strengthening our reputation for world-leading research and excellent teaching in this important international region.” 

The visit to Vietnam was managed by Carolyn Leong, UEA’s SE Asia Regional Manager, and her team, Amalina Husni and Kim Ngan Tran (a recent UEA graduate from the School of Economics). During this time, as guests at the British ambassador’s residence in Hanoi, Prof Lazarova, Prof Stephan, Dr Mason and Dr Curtis were able to meet with prospective PhD students and present on their academic expertise. 

They also met senior managers at institutions including the National Economics University, Banking Academy of Vietnam, Foreign Trade University, Hanoi Law University, and the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) – and delivered guest lectures to student audiences.
