Organisation profile
Our researchers are at the forefront of scientific studies to better understand the vital role which the atmosphere and oceans play in the functioning of the Earth System.
The Centre for Ocean and Amospheric Sciences (COAS) brings together scientists researching the physics and chemistry of the atmosphere and the physics and biogeochemistry of the oceans, and also the critical interactions of air-sea exchange that link these two vast reservoirs of the Earth System.
Our biogeochemical research scales from the cellular to the global scale and the physical science research ranges from urban pollution to global and even planetary scales. Details of the research and publications of individual faculties can be found in their profiles. COAS scientists often work together in larger research programmes within COAS, the School of Environmental Sciences and across the Faculty of Science.
