Organisation profile
The Department of Philosophy supports innovative research in three broad areas of philosophy:
- Language, Mind and Knowledge
- Morality, Society and Environment
- Methodology
While our overall research profile is highly diverse, our staff share a concern for philosophical methodology and the discipline's relation to the humanities and the social sciences, and work in interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues from other Schools of study.
We connect our research with the wider world through an expansive library of books, articles and monographs published by our researchers, including works written with a non-academic audience in mind. Our events, conferences and media interactions aim to foster public engagement with philosophical ideas, impacting society in its behaviour and aspirations.
