I'm Ahlem Mokhtari, a PhD researcher in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) with a strong academic background in Mechatronics (BSc) and Aircraft Propulsion (MSc). My research spans a broad spectrum of multiphase flow phenomena, from propulsion-related heat transfer to high-speed droplet dynamics and interfacial physics.
During my MSc, I focused on aircraft propulsion systems, where I investigated thermal management, fluid-structure interaction, and internal flow behavior in propulsion components. I developed CFD models using ANSYS Fluent and COMSOL to simulate heat transfer, compressible flow, and performance-critical fluid behavior in aerospace applications. This work provided a strong foundation in numerical modeling, turbulence, and thermofluid sciences.
Building on that, my current PhD research explores:
Droplet and liquid bridges wetting transitions on engineered surfaces.
Phase change phenomena including evaporation, condensation, and cavitation, with applications in aerospace, cooling systems, and surface design.
Compressible multiphase flow modeling, including shock capturing, vapor-liquid interface tracking, and bubble collapse physics using models such as the Rayleigh-Plesset equation and compressible mixture models.
Integration of phase-field, and Lattice Boltzmann methods to study fine-scale interfacial phenomena.
I develop and use in-house codes in MATLAB, C++, Fortran, and Python, and work extensively with ANSYS Fluent and COMSOL Multiphysics for advanced simulations. I manage and analyze large datasets, using Matlab , ParaView and Tecplot for high-resolution visualization, curvature analysis, and automated post-processing of multiphase flow features.
My research is driven by a deep interest in the interplay between physics, numerical modeling, and real-world engineering applications—especially in thermal-fluid systems, surface engineering, and fluid strecture interactions .
