Biography

I'm Ahlem Mokhtari, a PhD researcher in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) with a strong academic background in Mechatronics (BSc) and Aircraft Propulsion (MSc). My research spans a broad spectrum of multiphase flow phenomena, from propulsion-related heat transfer to high-speed droplet dynamics and interfacial physics.

During my MSc, I focused on aircraft propulsion systems, where I investigated thermal management, fluid-structure interaction, and internal flow behavior in propulsion components. I developed CFD models using ANSYS Fluent and COMSOL to simulate heat transfer, compressible flow, and performance-critical fluid behavior in aerospace applications. This work provided a strong foundation in numerical modeling, turbulence, and thermofluid sciences.

Building on that, my current PhD research explores:

  • Droplet and liquid bridges wetting transitions on engineered surfaces.

  • Phase change phenomena including evaporation, condensation, and cavitation, with applications in aerospace, cooling systems, and surface design.

  • Compressible multiphase flow modeling, including shock capturing, vapor-liquid interface tracking, and bubble collapse physics using models such as the Rayleigh-Plesset equation and compressible mixture models.

  • Integration of  phase-field, and Lattice Boltzmann methods to study fine-scale interfacial phenomena.

I develop and use in-house codes in MATLAB, C++, Fortran, and Python, and work extensively with ANSYS Fluent  and COMSOL Multiphysics for advanced simulations. I manage and analyze large datasets, using Matlab , ParaView and Tecplot for high-resolution visualization, curvature analysis, and automated post-processing of multiphase flow features.

My research is driven by a deep interest in the interplay between physics, numerical modeling, and real-world engineering applications—especially in thermal-fluid systems, surface engineering, and fluid strecture interactions .
