Ali Collinge

Ali is a registered midwife, qualified Newborn and Infant Physical Examiner, and midwifery lecturer on the pre-registration midwifery programme. She leads the Advanced Assessment and Management of the Newborn module, and the Newborn and Infant Feeding module.

Following qualification as an adult nurse at UEA, she began her professional career on a specialist surgical ward within an acute hospital before training in midwifery, where she gained a further degree and extensive experience across acute and community settings. Ali has also held the role of Infant Feeding Lead Midwife, contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based infant feeding standards and care.

Ali continues to develop her expertise through postgraduate study and is currently working towards qualification as a Lactation Consultant, further enhancing her specialist knowledge in infant feeding and lactation support. Alongside her academic role, she maintains active clinical practice as a midwife.

Ali's teaching interests include infant feeding complexities, Newborn and Infant Physical Examination (NIPE), maternity high-dependency care, physiological birth, and biomechanics, reflecting her clinical expertise.
