Accepting PhD Students

PhD projects

As a research group leader at the School of Chemistry, Pharmacy and Pharmacology, I'm pleased to discuss our research programs with potential master's and PhD students. Our group is focused on two exciting areas:

1- Discovery of Pharmacologically Active Marine Natural Products.

I-This project aims to explore the vast biodiversity of the world's oceans to identify novel, biologically active compounds from marine organisms.

II- We use advanced analytical techniques and bioassay-guided fractionation to isolate and characterize promising lead compounds with potential therapeutic applications.

III-The research involves fieldwork, compound isolation and purification, as well as in-depth biological evaluation of the isolated natural products.

2- Bio-inspired Synthesis of Variolin B Analogues

I-Variolin B is a marine-derived alkaloid with potent anti-cancer properties.

II-Our team is working on developing efficient synthetic routes to access Variolin B and its structural analogues.

III-By employing bio-inspired strategies, we aim to create a diverse library of Variolin B derivatives and evaluate their biological activities, with the goal of identifying more potent and selective anti-cancer agents.
