Personal profile

Biography

Andy started her career in community pharmacy as a pharmacy technician. This led her to studying pharmacy at Liverpool John Moores University and a pre-registration year at Chester Hospital.

Since 1989 Andy has worked as a rotational pharmacist; assistant dispensary manager at the Norfolk & Norfolk Hospital and pharmacy manager BUPA Hospital Norwich. Her interest in psychiatry has grown over this time and in 1998 Andy joined one of the largest mental health care trusts in the country based at Hellesdon Hospital Norwich.

As a lead pharmacist Andy is part of the multidisciplinary team for the drug & alcohol service and the crisis and home treatment team. This involves one to one sessions with patients on the ward and in their own homes. Andy also provides group ‘Medication- Education’ sessions and operates the medicines information help line for service users, carers, staff and GPs.  More recently, the Hellesdon Pharmacy team has been involved in supporting the mental health module for the School of Pharmacy and Andy is now a teacher practitioner on this module.
