Andrew is an archaeologist specialising the role of institutions in developing complexity and in cultural heritage. He received his Ph.D. from the University of East Anglia in 2011 and has worked as a professional archaeologist since 1984, first as a field archaeologist and latterly as a cultural heritage advisor. Throughout much of his career he has managed archaeological projects, including the Millennium Library in Norwich. Andrew is working on several research projects for the Centre for Archaeology & Heritage including: Nara to Norvic: arrivals and beliefs at the extremities of the Silk RoadsGlobal Perspectives on British Archaeology II, and is developing a project comparing the Yayoi Period in Japan with Iron Age Britain.
