Biography

Angelika Reichstein is a lecturer in Constitutional and Administrative Law with a general research interest in human rights and bioethics, especially issues surrounding the right to life. Additionally, she is interested in the (human) rights of prisoners and the philosophy of human rights. 

Angelika joined UEA in 2016 after having worked as a research fellow on a worldwide study of life imprisonment under Professor Dirk van Zyl Smit at the University of Nottingham. She obtained her PhD in 2015 - "The Right to Life – A Duty to Live?: A Comparative Analysis of the Regulation of Active Assisted Dying in England, Germany and under the ECHR" - at the University of Nottingham under the supervision of Professor Alastair Mowbray and Professor Ralph Sandland. Previously, she had done an LLM in Human Rights Law at the University of Nottingham and an MA in English and German Studies at the University of Bremen, Germany.
