Biography
Ann joined UEA in August 2012 as a Lecturer in Social Work. Prior to this, she worked at Havering College for 8 years as a social work lecturer on both the BA in Social Work and Practice Education programmes. Ann is a registered social worker. Her specialist interest areas include social work practice with adults, older people and carers. Her research interests include working with those deemed as marginal or failing students, decolonisation, safeguarding adults and carers at risk of harm, abuse, self-neglect including those with hoarding difficulties, adult social care policy and law, using professional curiosity in safeguarding adults and partnership work and service user and carer involvement in social work. She has co-authored research papers on using professional curiosity in safeguarding adults and partnership, self-neglect; safeguarding adults, COVID-19 and virtual assessment and service user and carer involvement in social work. Ann’s research draws on qualitative research methods, lived experiences and participatory methods.
