Personal profile

Biography

I am a CHASE-funded doctoral researcher in the School of Literature, Drama and Creative Writing. My PhD research focuses on communism, decolonialism, and interractions between the individual and scales of collectivity in Doris Lessing's writing and archive. I am undertaking research in the British Archive for Contemporary Writing, UEA and the Harry Ransom Center, UT Austin. I have a particular interest in the intersection of political activism, literature, and gender in the long 20th Century. Through my research I am hoping to shed light on the contents of Lessing's vast archive and encourage new generations of students, researchers, and readers to engage with and value her work.

I am currently based at the Harry Ransom Center at UT Austin to undertake a research fellowship.

I have given papers related to my research in the UK and USA, most recently at the MLA 2025, New Orleans, LA.

In 2024 I was appointed editorial assistant of English: Journal of the English Association where I reviewed submissions, edited articles for publication, and supported social media activity.

I have also been published as a freelance writer, most recently in the film journal Cinema Year Zero.
