Personal profile

Biography

Working within the research and innovation services department, my role is to help to facilitate collaboration, engagement and partnerships with external organisations within the business, financial and legal services sectors.  I also work with public sector bodies and charities.  I am first point of contact for the University's KTP (Knowledge Transfer Partnership) portfolio and work closely with Innovate UK/KTN in terms of promoting the programme.  Where organisations are looking to innovate, grow, diversify or overcome a specific challenge, UEA can help by providing access to academic expertise and knowledge exchange through collaborative research and joint funding, consultancy, executive training as well as introducing student and graduate talent via recruitment and internship programmes.

I joined UEA in 2017 from grant-making charity, Norfolk Community Foundation where I was director of marketing and development and worked with businesses, professional advisors, charitable trusts and individuals to support them with their corporate social responsibility and charitable giving.  Prior to that, I worked as business development manager for top UK law firm, Birketts LLP developing sector and practice led focus groups, bids and tenders for legal services and legal directory submissions.

Following my BA (Hons) Communication Studies at Nottingham Trent University in 1996, I worked in account management at advertising and resourcing agency, TMP Worldwide focusing on student marketing and employer branding, then as national resources manager at Hays Plc, playing an integral role in the growth of new brands within the organisation.  I have also held roles at Aviva and the Guardian Media Group.
