Biography
Ashley's CHASE-funded PhD in Creative and Critical Writing is being supervised by Professor Andrew Cowan and Professor Alison Donnell. His creative thesis is a novel of literary fiction based on the life and career of a former Premier League football referee. For the critical element, his thesis scrutinises the problematic depiction of the Black British male experience in ghostwritten football autobiographies. He is also an Associate Tutor on the 'Fakes, Frauds and Hoaxes' and 'Creative Writing: Introduction' modules.
Before starting at UEA, Ashley spent five years as a secondary school English teacher and completed his MA in Creative Writing and Publishing from City, University of London part-time. His debut novel The 392 was released in April 2019 and his second novel Your Show is to be released in Spring 2022.
