Biography
Bindiya is a Research Associate in the School of Health Sciences. She currently serves as the Programme Manager for a NIHR-funded trial on the feasibility of using contactless sleep technology to measure sleep in people living with dementia and mild cognitive impairment. Her research integrates clinical sleep science, digital health innovation, and dementia care.
She holds a PhD from the University of Western Australia, where she examined long-term cardiovascular outcomes in patients presenting to a tertiary sleep clinic using clinical measures and linked health administrative data. This work reflects her broader interest in clinical applied research and the impact of sleep on physical and mental wellbeing.
Bindiya previously worked as a Research Assistant at a sleep disorders research institute in Perth, Australia, contributing to both patient-facing studies and sleep epidemiological research. Her expertise includes quantitative methods, qualitative research, digital health technologies, big data, and the use of linked health data. She is experienced in working across multidisciplinary teams, and is particularly interested in the potential of health technology to enhance diagnosis and care across a range of health conditions, with a focus on real-world, person-centred applications.
