Personal profile

Academic Background

Carla joined the School of PPL in October 2022 as an ESRC SeNSS Post-Doctoral Research Fellow. Her research interests and her current research project, ‘Transcendence, fantasy and desire: the affective infrastructures of neoliberalism’, emerge from a critical engagement with contemporary discourses of neoliberalism, with a particular focus on the affective dimensions, psychic powers and embodied effects of these discourses. Her work is interdisciplinary, drawing on insights from neoliberalism studies, critical political economy, cultural economics and economic history, cultural studies, and psychoanalysis (particularly the work of Jacques Lacan and his interlocutors).

Prior to this position, Carla was an Associate Lecturer at Goldsmiths College, University of London, where she completed her PhD (as well as her PGCE in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education) in 2021.
