Personal profile

Biography

I am a Senior Research Associate in applied healthcare, specialising in behavioural science, realist methods and the co‑design of complex healthcare interventions. I work closely with healthcare professionals and patients to develop meaningful solutions that drive real‑world improvements in care. I am particulalry interested in improving dysphagia (swallowing difficulties) care for older adults across healthcare settings.

Currently, I lead the implementation and evaluation of the Identification of Medication Adherence Barriers Questionnaire intervention (IMAB‑Qi) as part of a National Institute for Health and Care Research programme grant.

I previously managed the NURRISH programme development grant at the University of Leicester which aimed to develop the evidence-base for nurse-led, routine dysphagia screening in older adult hospital wards.

In 2024, I completed my PhD in Healthcare Research and Behavioural Science at the University of Leicester, where I received the College of Life Sciences Award for Exceptional Merit in the Conduct and Outcome of Research. This used realist, quliatative and co-design methods to develop a complex behaviour change intervention to support primary care healthcare professionals to proactively manage dysphagia in older adults living in their own homes.

Alongside my research roles, I am passionate about supporting careers in research and am a research supervisor/mentor for clinicians and clinical academics.
