Personal profile
Academic Background
I am the Director of Assessment for the Norwich Medical School. In this role, I oversee and support assessment practices across our portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including MB BS, Graduate Entry MB BS, Physician Associate and Clinical Psychology Masters programmes. I graduated in 2002 with a PhD in Developmental Biology and Genetics with my thesis focusing on the genetics of hearing and balance research. I have over fifteen years of academic course design, development and teaching experience in clinical anatomy (Anatomy Course Chair; lecture, digital and cadaver lab), physiology and human embryology. I was the Director for Year 1 (MD; AUC) students overseeing and supporting their academic and pastoral care, as Academic Lead at UCLAN I contributed to the development and launch of a new medical school satellite campus and more recently held the role of Director of Assessment for newly launched Brunel Medical School for which I lead the design and development of their inaugural contemporary MB BS programme of assessment.
Assessment in medical education is and should be both holistic and dynamic moving forward with advances and evidence based best practices. With the learners at the centre of this process, I am dedicated to the creation of effective, efficient and sustainable assessment methods.
