Personal profile

Key Research Interests

I am a molecular biologist interested in RNA silencing. We use several model systems (human, mouse, virus, etc.). Our research combines genetics, cell and molecular biology with next generation sequencing and bioinformatics to study the role of microRNAs in various biological processes.

Current Research Projects

  • The role of small RNAs in circulating tumour cells / metastasis
  • Investigating miR-140 and RUNX2 in embryonic development
  • Biological function of RNA structure in gene regulation
  • Improving methods in next generation sequencing studies

Life in our research group

Our lab is based in the Biomedical Research Centre (BMRC) on the UEA main campus. We use molecular techniques to study small RNAs that regulate the expression of protein-coding genes. Our research is a mix of basic science and translational medicine. The weekly lab meeting is shared with several other groups interested in molecular disease mechanisms.
