Darren has a BEd (Hons) Physical Education and Geography. He studied at Carnegie College, Leeds and then went on to teach in primary, secondary and special education for 25 years. He has taught in various parts of the UK, including Birmingham, Leeds and Glasgow. For two years, he taught at Premier Academy, Nairobi, Kenya, which was an inspiring experience that greatly influence his teaching career. Highlights were climbing to the summit of Mount Kenya with a group of Year 6 students and organising Kenya’s largest school football tournament.
He has performed stand-up comedy and acted lead roles in several theatre productions, such as The Maddermarket Theatre and Sewell Barn Company. He enjoys running and has represented his home county of Suffolk in cross-country and athletics.
Darren is a passionate advocate of home education and has home educated his 3 children.
