Biography

Edward Acton is Professor of Modern European History. He is a specialist in modern Russian and Soviet political and intellectual history. His best-known book is Rethinking and the Russian Revolution (1990), and his most recent publication is The Soviet Union: A Documentary History, two volumes, Exeter University Press, 2005, 2007. His next project is a study of the impact on human consciousness of the fall of the USSR.

He joined UEA in 1991 after lecturing at Liverpool and Manchester. He headed the School from 1999 to 2002 and is currently serving as Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic).
