Academic Background

Elissa is a Lecturer in Speech and Language Therapy, having joined the UEA in February 2023. She qualified as a speech and language therapist in 2017 after completing the BSc Speech and Language Therapy at the University of East Anglia. She has worked in numerous clinical settings, spanning acute, neurological rehabilitation and adult community.  In her last clinical post she was a specialist speech and language therapy working across a stroke rehabilitation ward and in the Early Supported Discharge stroke service.  She is the module lead for Acquired Language and Communication Disorders.

Elissa is currently completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Research Delivery through Newcastle University and is enrolled to start MA Higher Education Practice in September 2023.

She has research interests in aphasia, dysarthria and dysphagia.
