Personal profile

Academic Background

I am an evolutionary ecologist with specific interests in the use of ‘omics’ approaches to address questions in evolution and ecology. My research background has principally focused on investigating how whole genome duplication events have impacted Corydoras catfishes from both the perspective of adaptive and genomic evolution.

I teach on and organise the 'Behavioural Ecology' and 'Parasite and Pathogen Ecology' modules at level 5 and 'Genomes, Genes and Genomics' at level 6. I also teach Data Science on 'Skills for Biologists' and am involved with teaching on 'Evolution, Behaviour and Ecology' and 'Biodiversity' modules at level 4 as well as the 'Evolutionary Biology' and 'Field Ecology' modules at level 5.

My scholastic research interests include; optimising engagement and attainment from formative assessment and feedback; the utilisation of iterative learning practices and; methods of integrating data literacy into regular teaching practice.

My administrative duties include the rolls of Deptuty Director of International Teaching and Deputy Senior Advisor in BIO and I am also the Post-Doctoral Mentoring Officer for post-doctoral researchers from across the Norwich Research Park who wish to acquire teaching experience in the School of Biological Sciences.
