Personal profile

Biography

Ellen joined the UEA Law School in March 2016 and is focussing on careers and employability for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. She has practised as a solicitor for many years, most recently as Senior Commercial In-House Counsel at Aviva, the major international insurance company.

She trained at Eversheds, and qualified into its commercial team where she worked for four years until moving to a niche franchising law firm. She originally read government and history at the London School of Economics and Political Science and, prior to qualifying as a solicitor in 1999, worked for a number of years in the European Union institutions in Brussels. This followed a spell, based largely in Brussels, as a lobbyist and European adviser for Birmingham City Council. She has lived and worked in the UK, on the European mainland and in the Far East.
