Academic Background

Geraint D’Arcy is an Associate Professor in Media Practice at The University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK. He is author of Mise en Scène, Acting and Space in Comics (Palgrave, 2020) which looks at the crossover of production design theory from film, and theatre, into comics, and of Critical Approaches to TV and Film Set Design (Routledge, 2018) which established theories of production design. Geraint is on the organising committee of the International Graphic Novels and Comics Conference (IGNCC), has had extensive experience in professional theatre, film and television production and has been a practicing scenographer for over twenty years.  

His doctoral thesis, Towards an Aesthetics of Theatre Technology (University of Glamorgan 2011) established an ahistorical model for understanding technological change and influence in performance and analysing how technology is used scenographically used in theatre production.
