Biography

Jamie has worked as a lecturer in Nursing Science at University of East Anglia School of Health Science since 2021. He qualified as an adult nurse (DipHE) at University Campus Suffolk, School of Nursing in 2011 establishing a keen interest in emergency and acute nursing.

In 2011 his career started at West Suffolk Hospital, Suffolk as a respiratory nurse gaining clinical expertise prior to embarking on his passion of emergency nursing within the Emergency Department at West Suffolk Hospital. During his time within West Suffolk Hospital Jamie completed his BSc in Acute and Critical Care in Practice (Emergency Nursing) leading to registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a Specialist Practitioner. Following completion of his BSc Jamie continued to work with University of Suffolk (formally University Campus Suffolk) as an associate tutor delivering sessions on many post graduate nursing modules.

In 2016 Jamie was appointed Junior Charge nurse at Addenbrookes Emergency Department in Cambridge, England. The skills and knowledge gained from previous employment were soon recognised and he was promoted to Practice Development Nurse within the same year. In 2018 Jamie was successful at becoming the Practice Development Lead for the Emergency department where he was able to support, develop and deliver training to the wider workforce across the multidisciplinary team.

Teaching Interests

Jamie teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate level across the spectrum though with a particular interest in acute and emergency nursing. He is the admissions officer for BSc Adult Nursing - Direct Entry at University of East Anglia alongside the module organiser for Nursing Practice and Simulation for undergraduate BSc Nursing.

Areas of Expertise

Jamie has been a Lecturer in Nursing Science since 2021 at University of East Anglia. Prior to becoming a lecturer, he had completed his BSc Acute and Critical Care in Practice – Emergency Nursing leading to a Nursing and Midwifery Council registration of Specialist Practitioner. Following this he has completed a PGCert in Medical Healthcare Education registering with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a Teacher.

Jamie has a keen interest in Emergency and Acute nursing holding a range of advanced and specialist skills. Such interest has lead to the completion of additional courses which include ILS, ILSi, ALS, ALSi, EPALS, TNCC, CBRNe, Manchester Triage.
