Biography

Jeremy Schildt is Head of Life and Learning (Learning Enhancement) in Student Services at UEA. Prior to joining UEA, Jeremy held teaching and research posts at the universities of Cambridge, Sussex and London. He has studied in the UK and the US and completed a PhD in the history of reading at Royal Holloway, University of London in 2008.

In his current post, Jeremy oversees learning development provision for all students at UEA. This encompasses the delivery of teaching in academic literacies and English language, mathematics and statistics; the development of peer-led learning initiatives, support for students with Specific Learning Difficulties and inclusive practice in learning and teaching.  

Key Research Interests

A historian by training, Jeremy’s current teaching and research interests are focused on writing development, assessment literacy and inclusive practice. He has been awarded funding for learning and teaching projects, including establishing writers’ groups and retreats, developing the use of exemplars to improve students’ understanding of assessment criteria and standards, and investigating the impact of technology enhanced learning on students with Specific Learning Difficulties. He has presented his work at the conferences of the Association for Learning Development in Higher Education, the European Association for the Teaching of Academic Writing, the Society for Research into Higher Education and the European Educational Research Association.
