Personal profile
Key Research Interests
I am a conservation biologist with a special focus on reintroduction biology. Overall, the aim of my research is to understand the contribution of captive-breeding to conservation and reintroduction projects. Currently I am working in collaboration with Birdlife International and the Emirates Bird Breeding Centre for Conservation (EBBCC) to develop an evidence-based approach for the conservation and sustainable hunting of the threatened Asian Houbara Chlamydotis macqueenii.
We carry out fieldwork every year in Uzbekistan to understand the ecology of the wild Houbara as well as long-term monitoring of captive-bred and released Houbara.
