Personal profile
Academic Background
I hold a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in Biotechnology, obtained in India. Before beginning my doctoral studies, I gained several years of hands-on laboratory research experience in molecular biology, working at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore and in industry. I am now undertaking a PhD in Chemistry at the University of East Anglia, where I apply this combined background in biology and chemistry to the development of new diagnostic tools for cancer.
Career
• PhD Student, University of East Anglia, Norwich (2024–present)
• Laboratory Scientist, Equine Biotech Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, India (2021–2024)
• Research Project Assistant, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India (2019–2024)
Key Research Interests
• Developing diagnostic tests that work without washing steps, making detection quicker and easier to perform
• Detecting cancer markers such as EGFR, HER2, and PD-L1, which are important in diagnosis and treatment decisions
• Using small antibody fragments as highly specific detection tools
• Understanding how fluorescent molecules behave when attached to proteins, and how this can be used to signal disease
• Translating laboratory research into practical tools that could one day be used in clinical or point-of-care settings
• Science communication and public engagement
Research Group or Lab Membership
I am a member of the Sachdeva group in the School of Chemistry, Pharmacy and Pharmacology, and part of the wider research community at the Norwich Research Park.
