I studied an integrated masters in Natural Sciences at UEA specialising in Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry and Cell Biology. My dissertation focussed on engineering Phytases for use as an animal feed supplement to reduce the impact of animal rearing on phosphate pollution.
My PhD project at the John Innes Centre involves studying an example of convergent evolution related to natural product synthesis in bacteria in order to develop new antibiotics to combat antimicrobial resistance.
