Biography
Julia became Head of Research Services at UEA in 2017, served as Divisional Director from 2022-2024 and is now Associate Director for Research Services.
Research Services comprises teams and specilaist roles who support pre and post award research contract support, international and EU funding, impact support, research integrity, research assessment (REF), research management information and systems (Pure, Ethics Monitor).
Since 2025, Julia has been partially seconded to Research England to serve on the REF29 Secretariat. Firstly as sub panel secretary for the PCE Pilot and currently as sub panel secretary for the criteria setting phase. Previously Julia was appointed a member of UKRI's Research Organisations Consultation Group. She is also an active member of the Association for Research Managers and Administrators, a member of the Editorial Working Group for ARMA Insights.
Outside of work, Julia enjoys time with her dogs and horse, helping others as a gundog and pet dog trainer, and as a volunteer for various riding clubs and British Eventing.
