Biography

Interdisciplinary interests in literature, politics, history and philosophy from 1830. Particular interests in the late Victorian period and early modernism, especially the interrelationship of different cultural forms; Matthew Arnold and Henry James; liberalism, publicity, public intellectuals and the public sphere; also special interests in women's writing and gender, cultural studies and existentialism. I welcome applications for supervision for postgraduate dissertations on English literature and culture, and historical and interdisciplinary studies.
