Biography

Kathy Win is a doctoral researcher at the University of East Anglia, funded by Social Science Studentship. Kathy holds a Master of Science in Social Research Methods from the University of East Anglia with distinction. Her research uses the concepts of ‘everyday citizenship’ and ‘contested statehood’ to offer new insight on the dynamic political governance in post-coup Rakhine State, Myanmar. She also earned a Master of Science in Violence, Conflict, and Development from the SOAS, University of London, where she earned a distinction in her research project. Her research explores citizenship and nationalism, which focus on the case study of Rohingya Muslims. As a research consultant, she is working on issues related to Rohingya refugee rights, displacements and the role of humanitarian aid in Rakhine State, Myanmar and Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. She is also a lecturer at School of Federalism and Peace Studies, an online institution that offers higher education to young people from Myanmar.
