Laura Blackburn

As a qualified and accredited Doctor, Coach and Educationalist, Laura balances her time between practicing as an Occupational Health Physician, working within the education sector and coaching professionals who are looking to achieve crucial transitions within their life and work.

Through her capacity as a Coaching and Mentoring Fellow for Health Education England (East of England), Laura supported the development of regional coaching and mentoring schemes for Doctors. Within this, was the opportunity to develop training opportunities for both mentors and mentees and train the trainer workshops and resources. This led to her involvement in the expansion of a national mentoring scheme is gastroenterology. Her practice has now developed to include the supervision of others working within the field of coaching.

Developing and running workshops in coaching and mentoring skills, leadership, teaching and communication has led to a breadth of experience in the provision of educational content. With a passion for the central importance of the learner experience, she has applied her knowledge to a number of different platforms including the generation of e-learning packages, face to face workshops and synchronous virtual learning. Developing content and learning experiences for a variety of learners from first year medical students, to formal postgraduate learning programmes and senior academics and clinicians. Most recently, she has been instrumental in the development and provision of a virtual consultation skills curriculum, including simulated skills sessions, due to a need to move from face-to-face to remote learning.  

Laura works as an Occupational Health Physician and is Head of Clinical Compliance for a provider in the Eastern Region. She is the owner and director of Transition Coaching Solutions Ltd.
