Biography
Li is a Lecturer in Soil Science at the University of East Anglia. Her research expertise is in soil carbon profiling and soil organic carbon modelling.
Li’s research focuses on i) soil carbon stability; ii) soil carbon modelling; iii) reconstructed soils and their potential to store carbon; iv) different types of soil amendments and how they can affect soil carbon, soil quality and soil physical and chemical properties.
Li has kept a great interest in soil science since her very first soil research project – a bachelor’s dissertation, relating to contaminated soils. She conducted her second soil research project while studying at the University of East Anglia, relating to agricultural soil and soil amendments. Since then, she has worked on various research projects, including i) Paper crumble for public goods and net zero agriculture (PANEZA); and ii) Valorisation of paper crumble as a soil improver to enhance soil carbon stock and soil quality (VALCRUM). iii) Anglian Water/Sandringham Estate - Soil carbon profiling. She is currently working on the Interreg FCE project ‘Reconstructed Soils from Waste’, with her expertise in soil carbon profiling and soil carbon modelling.
