STATEMENT OF CURRENT DUTIES
My core duties and responsibilities are to ensure that the professional and career development needs of research staff are met. Further to procuring consultants and delivering training workshops, I carry out audits on behalf of the University. Presently, this involves supporting the strategic needs and vision of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research & Innovation and the Executive Team. My activities include setting up the University’s contribution to the national biennial Careers in Research Online Survey (CROS) (to become CEDARS from 2021), as well as working closely with Athena SWAN in the collation and analysis of data that supports submissions to Vitae. Since joining UEA in 2013, as the result of a number of audit submissions, the University has continued to successfully retain the HR Excellence in Research Award. I work in collaboration with relevant staff, e.g. from Careers Centre and HR to register new research staff as they arrive and uploading and maintaining relevant documentation via maintenance of the Blackboard researcher portal. In addition, I lead in the annual design and delivery of the annual Researcher Summit. From 2021, the Researcher Summit will be delivered as a virtual event.
