Career

Megan became an NIHR Clinical Lecturer in General Practice at the University of East Anglia in August 2025. Her principal research interests are Women’s health and Maternal health. Her current projects relate to social media recruitment to a clinical trial of a novel intervention for smoking in pregnancy; a framework for understanding vaccine uptake in pregnancy; and patient and clinician experiences of discontinuing HRT. She is collaborating with academics at Birmingham University, City St George's University of London, and the CIC ‘Make Birth Better’, to develop a brief screening tool for perinatal post-traumatic stress disorder for use in primary care.

Megan completed her PhD in Biological Sciences in 2005, before studying graduate medicine at the University of Birmingham, where she was awarded the Sir Arthur Thompson Gold Medal for achieving the top overall academic results in the MBChB, and the Birmingham University Chancellor’s Prize for outstanding academic record and overall contribution to the university. Megan carried out her GP training in the West Midlands and South Derbyshire, completing her GP training in 2017.

Megan works clinically as a GP for one day a week at The Arthur Medical Centre in Amber Valley, Derbyshire. She is a clinical supervisor and trainer on the Derbyshire GP speciality training scheme. Megan is a member of the Primary Care Academic Collaborative (PACT), the Society for Academic Primary Care (SAPC), and GPs Championing Perinatal Care (GPCPC).

Megan is a member of the board of trustees for a Derbyshire charity, Children First Derby, which supports vulnerable children, young people and families across the region.
