Academic Background

Mohamed Fazal graduated with an MSc in Physical Oceanography from the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies and a degree in Physics from the University of Calicut.  Completed his master's thesis, which looked at the global monsoon trends and variabilities during the two seasons.  Following its presentation at the National Symposium (TROPMET-2022) at IISER Bhopal, this work was published in the Global and Planetary Change journal in 2023 (http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.gloplacha.2023.104251).

Worked as a Project Associate 1 in the National Institute of Oceanography, Goa, where he studied the variabilities in the temperature and salinity of the Bay of Bengal region in the Indian Ocean and its influence on the Indian Summer Monsoon. During this period, obtained a cruise experience of more than 30 days for collecting the temperature data using the XBT/XCTD probes and ocean water samples in the Chennai/Vizag/Kolkata-Port Blair route in the Indian Ocean.

Gained experience in the analysis of the salinity of ocean water samples using the Autosal. Additionally, worked with the observed and model data for the analysis of climate variabilities using the Python language.
