Examining experiences and discourses constructing uses of assistive technologies. 

Many claims are made for the technological contribution of assistive technologies assuming they can widely promote independence and reduce demands for care service. In practice, there use  can also bring restrictions and stresses.This study will critically examine the contradictions and tensions between the producers, providers and people that use these technologies through the construction of experiences and discourses reproduced in selected  health and social care settings.
