Personal profile
Academic Background
I am a Research Lecturer (Assistant Professor) based in the Psychology Department at the University of East Anglia. I am interested in understanding how beliefs about the world and our motivation to explore it, emerge from the ways in which we learn.
Using a mixture of interactive online games, computational modelling, neuroimaging, behavioural experiments, field studies, survey data and economic theory, I try to understand the decisions we make and the underlying neurobiology that gives rise to them.
Before joining UEA I was a Sir Henry Wellcome Research Fellow at Oxford University in the UK and Princeton University in the USA. I am also a former UCL IMPACT scholar in Experimental Psychology at the Affective Brain Lab and have written about my research for Aeon Magazine, The Conversation and NBC among others (see here for publications).
