Accepting PhD Students
I am an Associate Professor in Finance at NBS. I am also a visiting research fellow at Athens University of Economics and Business, Greece. Before joining NBS, I was a Lecturer in Finance at the University of Essex and Cranfield University.
I studied for my PhD at Athens University of Economics and Business. Prior to that, I obtained an MSc in Engineering-economic Systems at National Technical University of Athens, an MSc in Decision Sciences at Athens University of Economics and Business and a BSc in Economics and Regional Development from Panteion University Athens.
I have either lead or taught modules at various subjects, including Investments, Financial Econometrics, Quantitative Methods, Risk Management, Introductory Finance, Data Analytics, at the undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education levels. I am currently teaching the following modules at NBS:
My research interests centre around the areas of information finance, modelling volatility and uncertainty, commodity markets and forecasting. I am particularly interested in analysing new and unconventional datasets, particularly those related to online activity. My research has been published in various high-standing peer-reviewed journals, such as the Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of International Money and Finance and the Journal of Futures Markets.
I have co-founded and co-organise the International Symposium in Finance (ISF) and I am a member of the steering committee of the Financial Management Special Interest Group of the British Academy of Management. I regularly present at academic conferences and seminars. My work has been featured in general and specialized media (e.g. Refinitiv, East Anglian Daily Times, Bdaily News, HedgeWeek, Trading Tech Insight, Systemic Risk and Systemic Value). I have served as referee for several international academic journals, including the Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of International Money and Finance, Journal of Futures Markets, Energy Economics, and the European Journal of Operational Research.
