Key Research Interests and Expertise
Orestis Dikaios is a filmmaker and theoretician of film. He is also a professional actor and drama teacher. At the core of his practiced based research is the relationship between film and time, and how film can effectively portray the experience of time under different circumstances. He is now working on his Ph.D. thesis, with the title: "Recording Alienated Times and Experiences: A Practical and Theoretical Investigation on Filming Time." The project is supervised by Professor Richard Hand (primary supervisor) and Professor Yvonne Tasker.
Workshops with actors, theory of film and time, inform the research.
Orestis has exhibited his work in exhibitions and film festivals in UK, Portugal, Greece, Serbia, and he has been awarded for his projects by festivals and academic institutions.
