Personal profile

Biography

I joined UEA in September 2019, having been a Teaching Fellow at the University of Birmingham and a Visiting Lecturer at the universities of Birmingham, De Montfort and Wolverhampton. I completed my PhD at the University of Bristol.

Key Research Interests

My research falls into five key areas: (1) performance, the senses, and experimental dining; (2) performance philosophy, especially through an engagement with the work of Martin Heidegger; (3) Live Art and experimental performance; (4) practice-as-research methodologies, practices, and documentation; and (5) class, politics, socio-economic diversity and the creative industries.

I have worked with a number of artists, theatre companies and restaurants, drawing on my research. I was on the project team for an AHRC-funded research network entitled Incubate/Propagate, led by Professor Liz Tomlin (University of Glasgow), which investigated models of artist development in theatre and performance, seeking to broaden the socio-economic diversity of the next generation of artists and theatre-makers.
