Biography

Paul McGrath studied at the School of Social Work at the UEA where he gained a BA (hons) in Social Work in 2011 and an MA in Advanced Social Work in 2016. Paul joined the School of Social Work as a PhD Research Student in 2017

Career

Paul started his career as a social worker for Norfolk County Council Children’s Services in 2011, working in a Child Protection Team. Paul become a senior social worker in 2014 and team manager of a Family Intervention Team in 2015.

Key Research Interests

Paul’s time working in the child protection and family court arenas led him to become interested in decision making when children are made subject to Special Guardianship Orders and placed to live with with wider family members.
Paul’s research project is focusing on how special guardians experience caring for children when the chidren's parents are unable to.
