Biography

Peter Handley arrived at UEA as a mature student in 1998 to read for a PhD after having worked in the service sector since leaving school.  Previously, between 1994 and 1998, he read for both his BA and MA at the University of Reading.

 Peter teaches on the undergraduate modules, Australia: politics, culture, society; Democratic Theory, Social and Political Theory, Global Politics 2, and Introduction to Contemporary Politics. He also teaches Masters students in Democratic Theory.

 His research focuses on developing a disability approach to political analysis. His areas of interest include the authoritarian aspects of contemporary liberalism, with particular reference to the politics of welfare reform in Britain and Australia. His published work appears in Politics, Australian Journal of Political Science, and Disability and Society.
