Biography
Rebecca Lower joined the UEA in 2021 as a Lecturer in Clinical Psychology. Rebecca currently works on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Programme. Prior to working at the UEA Rebecca worked as a Clinical Psychologist in the NHS for 13 years, in areas of adult mental health, youth mental health, and early intervention in psychosis.
Key Research Interests
Rebecca has a strong research interest and has been involved in research projects and publications in the field of psychosis and youth mental health. Rebecca is currently involved in research on the Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP) role, and is particularly interested in the impact and development of new psychological practitioner roles.
Areas of Expertise
Rebecca has an interest in complex mental health presentations and is trained in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Rebecca also has experience in using a range of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mentalisation-based approaches, and Behavioural Family Therapy.
Rebecca is an experienced supervisor and provides individual and group supervision to a range of professionals, as well as facilitating reflective practice groups.
Teaching Interests
Rebecca currently teaches on a range of topics across the Clinical Psychology and Psychological Therapies (CPPT) Department, including psychological assessment and engagement, complex mental health difficulties, risk assessment and formulation, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), mentalisation, and reflective practice.
